Meet Morgan Lange our Design Intern
What is your fashion story?
I have always been obsessed with clothes since before I can remember.During grade school I’d always get in trouble for doodling on my worksheets instead of completing them – especially when it came to my dreaded language class. It was during 3rd Grade that I realized I wanted to be a fashion designer when I grew up and ever since then my dream has been to become a head designer for a company.
Creativity – How do you define it. When are you most creative? How are you inspired? What inspires you?
I am inspired by anything and everything. I like looking at forecasted trends to see what’s coming and sometimes I’ll put together some ideas, or I’ll find images of things I like or am obsessed with at the moment and collage them out and put different ideas together.
What is your fashion-inspired mantra you live by every day?
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, it is in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” - Coco Channel
What is your favorite daph. piece?
The everyday joggers. I am a sucker for a good pair of comfy pants (specifically joggers) that you can dress both up and down!
How do you relate to the daph. values and how do you use them in everyday activities or when shopping?
So, when I shop for things, especially clothing, I am always looking for things that I can mix and match and make multiple looks out of it. I also look for the sustainability. With the fashion industry being one of the most pollutant industries in the world, I am always looking to do my part in supporting sustainable and environmentally friendly companies. I look to do my part in helping the fashion industry be a little less harmful to our environment!
What is your role at daph?
My role at daph. is a design intern. I focus on the apparel design, making sure the best designs go from little scribbles to a fully finished quality, versatile garment in your closet. The process includes thumbnail creation (the scribbles), selecting the final designs in collaboration with Daphne, discussing sustainable fabrics and colors and creating final illustrations for our manufacturing partners to use to create samples.
What can the daph. community reach out to you for?
The daph. community can ask me about different fabric qualities, which ones to pair together and the pros and cons of the fabrics. I’d be happy to discuss the creative process or anything art-related. I always enjoy helping people take their ideas to the next level while bouncing ideas off others. I’ve been told I know quite a bit about the fashion industry and textiles, so feel free to ask me anything and everything!
Where are you from?
I am from STL, born and raised! And am attending Stephens College in Columbia, hoping to graduate May 21’.
